Checking the LEDs

Drive activity LED (green)
Each drive has an activity LED. When this green LED is flashing, it indicates drive activity.
Drive status LED (amber)
Each drive has a status LED. When this amber LED is lit continuously, it indicates a drive failure.
When it is flashing, it indicates that the controller is identifying or building a drive.
Drive Replacement
DS3500,3512 - Storage Manager v10.10 or latest
Replace Drives option
- Wait the controller reconstructs parity of all the logical drives in that array, and hot spare drive is in-use state.
- Select the missing or failed drive and the in-use hot spare drive. Failed disk drive replacement
- Unplug the missing or failed drive, wait 60s then insert the new drive.
- Set the new drive as an hot spare.
Fail Drive option
- Unassign all hotspare drives first. This will prevent hotspare reconstruct and copyback operations.
- Fail drive. Recovery - Fail drive
- Unplug the missing or failed drive, wait 60s then insert the new drive.
- Reassign all hotspare drives.

Confirm the drive in failed or offline state. Replacing hot-swap E-DDMs |
Battery Replacement

- Change logical drive to good controller. Change Ownership/Preferred Path
- Place bad battery of controller to offline. Recovery - Place controller
- Replacing a bad battery. Replacing a battery
- If necessary, place the controller to online. Recovery - Place controller

- When the controller battery fails, first check the status of the battery LED. Battery unit LEDs |
